Why is it important to cool down your dog?
When it’s hot, dogs, just like humans, need ways to cool down and avoid heatstroke. Dogs don’t sweat like we do; they regulate their temperature primarily through panting and the pads on their paws. Providing them with a frozen treat helps them stay hydrated and regulate their body temperature more effectively. Pupsicles, in particular, offer a cooling relief and are a great way to combine hydration with nutrition.
Ingredients :
- Water (about 1/2 cup)
- 2 small bags pumpkin puree (1.05 oz each)
- Broth (desired quantity)
- Chien Gourmand Lamb Meal Booster (or protein of your choice)
- Small chewing article (to serve as a stick)
Instructions :
1. Preparation of the mixture:
- Mix all the liquid ingredients (water, pumpkin puree and broth) to obtain about 1 cup of liquid.
2. Filling the molds:
- Pour the mixture into ice cream molds.
3. Adding the protein:
- Add 1 tablespoon of Lamb Meal Booster to each mold.
4. Inserting the stick:
- Insert the small chewing article into the center of each mold.
5. Freezing:
- Place the molds in the freezer until the pupsicles are frozen solid.
Can my dog eat lamb?
Absolutely! Lamb is an excellent source of protein for dogs. It is rich in essential amino acids and B vitamins, which are crucial for your dog’s energy and overall health. Additionally, lamb is often well tolerated by dogs with food sensitivities. At Chien Gourmand, our Lamb Meal Booster is specially formulated to be nutritious and delicious, providing your dog with a high-quality protein supplement.
How long does a pupsicle last?
Dog pupsicles keep very well in the freezer. You can store them for up to three months without any problem. It is advisable to keep them in an airtight container to avoid any contamination or absorption of freezer odors. This way, you can prepare a large quantity in advance and always have some on hand for hot days.
Notes:
-
Broth: You can use any type of broth your dog prefers.
-
Stick: For the stick, you can use dog biscuits that have an appropriate shape, good quality ingredients, and a low calorie count. A flattened esophagus cut in half lengthwise also works well.
